Exhibition time!!

Just 3D to do now and a few finishing touches for the last two briefs.

Business cards

Now I'm researching for the exhibition stuff.
I have come up with a logo. It's ok, I'm not crazy about it, but it needs to go to the printers Now. So it will do (I can always upgrade it later.) I wanted to do a folding type card, but nobody could do it for me.... so had to ditch that idea. I have spent 3 days solid trying to organise the design I wanted and now it's time to move on...... this card will do :-)

The end is nigh...

The graded unit flew passed as I am sure will the rest of the term. Now it's preparing for our exhibition, doing another Flash project and the 3D animation on 3Dmax.
My animation used both roll over buttons and press buttons, with a catchy kiddies tune.  My target audience was 3-6 year olds. (Of course the adults read the text!)

Graded unit

The first mentoring session has passed and now I can move forward on what I would like to focus on.  I will be doing the caterpillar life cycle. I have drawn a few caterpillars with different textures in Illustrator.  I tried out the graphic pen, which I found to be much like using the mouse but I will use it again tomorrow, to see if I find it better to draw with once I get the hang of it.  I like one of my caterpillars as I have given it a furry texture which makes him more lovable, which I think would appeal to children.  We have been working on 3D this evening and my Lemur is coming along slowly.

Start of the graded unit

I have picked the brief on the interactive timeline.  I have chosen to do a children's theme where a caterpillar eats and eats, and gets fat and turns into a cocoon and then emerges as a beautiful butterfly.  I will be aiming it to 3-6 year olds (remembering that parents and teachers would also be the ones to purchase the tutorials).  The idea is to make a fun interactive game for little ones to play (easy to navigate) where a lesson is also learned which would be the life cycle of a caterpillar.  I will design the whole thing on Flash and design the CD cover.

Client presentation.

We have one week to go until the client presentation.  I will be doing the PowerPoint presentation which I will try to finish tomorrow so that we will each know what to say.

We have PDA class tonight, so tomorrow evening after college, I will be celebrating the purchase of our new home.  I finally own my own house! So very very exciting.  :-)

Time to get back to work............have not worked this hard in a while!  :-)

Graded Unit

Today I went to my scheduled chat with the tutors about the graded unit.  I have not yet chosen which brief I will pick as I am going to do a little research first.  I may pick a packaging brief or I may do the timeline.  With the timeline - my FLASH is a bit rusty, and I would need to use Dreamweaver, but with the other packaging brief I would need to make sure I could make up the 3D items to look professional.

I have taken books out of the library on packaging and one on FLASH and will look at them this week to decide.  If I choose packaging I need to make up an item for Monday to make sure that I would be able to complete a project with many items to create.  I had to scan in a bunch of packaging ideas today, because I could not carry home all the books I had taken out!

I am excited about the graded unit, and wait to start focusing on it.

Finally this last week I had to complete my web site which should hopefully be ok. One of the last things I did earlier this week was to design the feedback form and the store map. These were requirements for the webpage. Another big thank you to Tania for helping me to get the form working on my page properly.

Logo

After the holidays I finalised my logo. I chose Hoxton and the three lines enter from the right hand side to join the top of the X in Flash with a swish sound. It was nice and subtle and not flashy which I was quite happy with. The black background of my logo fitted in with the black background of my webpage.

My model

During the Christmas holidays Rebecca kindly agreed to be my model and I owe her a big THANK YOU!! She put loads of outfits on for me so that I had plenty for my web page.  Unfortunately I did not realise that my camera was set to show the date! So I spent a lot of time trying to photoshop them out for my website :-(  Thats a Fearne Cotton dress, I love it!!!

Website research

We had to look at other clothing websites too which we had to present to the class.  My favourite was the Next website because it was not text heavy, had a smart black background and was easy to read.  I used the Next website to do my web analysis on.

Inspiration

This picture is good inspiration for my website because my target audience is female, and the use of pink is perfect which I planned to incorporate into my website. I liked the chandelier as again it gives the feeling of my website and was an idea for my website too. This was used in a fashion role too. The use of complimentary pink and green is a good idea too.

Moodboard

For my moodboards which were also started before the Christmas holidays, I looked at pictures that would give me the feel for my website.  My website was to be upmarket, smart clothing and accessories for occasions. I liked this picture because I was wanting the glass effect for my website.  I wanted my website to show the entrance into my 'store' which would be the online shop.  The feel of this picture is just right for my website and I noted the use of black.

I started with the web tutorial before the Christmas holidays.  This is the template we had to work from and I used the template as the basis for my web project too.

Website

I have been keeping my own diary for the webpage, but was not uploading it on the blog.  We have just been off for the Christmas holidays so now its time to get back into the swing of things. This is my shortlist on how I have been following the brief.  I am still working on the webpage, but most of the other assessments have been done.
